The unidentified officer, who was injured in the incident, had approached Derek Lobo, 31, around 6 a.m. on Wednesday for “motor vehicle violations,” according to the state police’s Facebook post.
Footage shows the officer and his partner leaning into Lobo’s Mercedes with the driver’s door open. Seconds later, the officers lean further into the car, appearing to struggle with Lobo as his partner, Corey Douglas, comes over to grab his colleague and pull him out.
Douglas’s attempt was in vain as Lobo sped off down the road, taking the officer with him as Douglas ran back toward their patrol car.
Lobo drives erratically down the street as the officer grips the door before being thrown from the car, skidding down the road several meters. The officer sustained minor injuries, according to the police.
The two chased Lobo down the block before the video cut off.
The assailant was apprehended a day later at a residence on Union Street and taken into custody.
